He should not be confused with Stewart Traill (1936–2018), the founder of a cult-like group of evangelical Christians, the Church of Bible Understanding. A 2004 paper looking at the conflict between this owl and cold-water fish farmers in Taiwan found that owls were an issue at a quarter of the farms observed.

I agree with eBird that the Asian Glossy Starling is “fierce-looking” Appropriately, it is an invasive species in places such as Taiwan, where some papers recommend reducing the population. It very effectively forms a small foraging group in this manner.

Shorebirds of Roebuck Bay

When they depart on their northward migration it is possible to go into Roebuck Bay in the late afternoon and watch them group up, call and then take off in beautiful V-formations. They have returned from the north, though more are returning and there is very little knowledge on their arrival back in the Bay.

Walking from the Port towards Town Beach you often find the first group of shorebirds to be the ever noisy and flighty Common Greenshank followed by the Grey-tailed Tattlers and Terek Sandpipers. You may remember my recent posts where we discovered a Little Tern that had been flagged in Taiwan on Cable Beach.
