I agree with eBird that the Asian Glossy Starling is “fierce-looking” Appropriately, it is an invasive species in places such as Taiwan, where some papers recommend reducing the population. It very effectively forms a small foraging group in this manner.

Sadly, the HBW states that the species is “almost extinct in some areas in China owing to hunting and trapping for the cagebird trade and taxidermy” The Maroon Oriole looks much more interesting, though my photos do not really do it full justice.

A study found that for Plain Prinia , egg characteristics in a mainland China location with many cuckoos make it much easier to spot cuckoo eggs than in a Taiwan location with few cuckoos ( source ). For those who think evolution is a wrong theory, these differences may well have been created by god.
