I’ve been leading a small but faithful group on Trinidad for several years to count birds within a livestock farm that is generally restricted to the public (you can read about some of those shenanigans here ); this was the first time I was to embark on a CBC on the smaller island of Tobago. Asia’s Deadliest Bird: The Brown Prinia

The prinias are a group of around 25 Old World warbler species found in Africa and Asia. Additionally, this split would mean that birders need to cut their time short in prime habitats to allow for sufficiant time in degraded, littered shrubs that hold little else that is of interest to them – just the Brown Prinia.

Manx Shearwaters

10,000 Birds

Shearwater remains litter the island with the carcasses picked clean, leaving just the wings, breastbone and girdle. A big moon gives enough light for the gulls to hunt by, so the shearwaters seldom come onto land while the full moon is up. Photographs taken on Skomer were limited to one picture per bird.
