Despite being alone, it appeared to associate with the sheep in much the same way that it might with a flock of its own kind. So who is this enigmatic leader of birds that started as a sheep and now leads flocks across great distances?

Currently, A Chance for Bliss sanctuary is home to 96 residents including 25 horses, 22 dogs, 8 goats, 7 pot belly pigs , 4 sheep, 2 steers, 5 ducks, 5 geese, 5 cockatiels, 4 rabbits, 3 chickens, 3 cats, 1 turkey, a one-winged pigeon, Hines, and a turtle, Bart. The oldest dog, Max, is 17, while the oldest horse, Prince is 36.

Call B for Birder or Waterfowling East Anglia

discovered that the usual flock of several thousand Pink-footed Geese was wintering in the Broads National Park. Next were the wet meadows of Tunstall Marshes (cover photo), where grazing sheep awaited us and, among them, Mute Swans. Two Common Snipes , one Brown Hare and… geese! Little Big Year Week 33: Yellowstone

The Alkali Lakes was a different matter, with a good bunch of birds, including Ring-bill Gulls, Mallards, Blue-wing Teal, green-wing Teal, Killdeer, Baird’s Sandpipers, red-wing Blackbirds, Osprey, Trumpeter Swans and Canada Geese. The hardest image to get is always the Bighorn Sheep, so I am pretty happy with this shot!
