(i have uploaded this to multiple other animal based forums) my family and i rescue kittens and today i found a tuxedo kitten (about a month old i'd say) in the middle of the road. it has no extertal wounds beside the fact that its right eye seems to be either stuck together/possible wounded and healing.

We birders don’t always like to ruminate on missed birds, for some of us the wounds are worn too close to the surface. Things looked right. But then the bird turned, and things didn’t look quite right. But I happen to think that those stories are better than the ones with happy endings. The darker purplish gorget.

After the castle we wound our way through the Black Forest where we were able to watch a pair of Eurasian Three-toed Woodpeckers foraged a few feet in front of us. At the city castle I was able to watch, from a distance, a Hawfinch foraging on the ground.
