This is the home of the Rusty-naped Pitta , admittedly one of the less glamorous of the family, particularly the subspecies found in Yunnan, but still a nice sight and still a pitta. No doubt, the Lesser NLT will be relieved not to be bossed around by its erstwhile bigger family member anymore. His obituary was published in Nature.

Many birds around the world in the Robin family ( Turdidae ) are favorites due to their musical songs. The quail, guans, ducks and pheasant are hunted for their meat. A three generation family in Choluteca checking out a Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl in their backyard Better yet. We will take charge of the prosecution.

This past weekend had the family and me visiting my folks for Easter in my hometown of Saugerties, New York, “Where,&# as the slogan says, “The Catskills Meet the Hudson.&# Because I am an absurdly early riser of late I had some time before breakfast on Sunday to get out for some birding.

Natural areas include Pelham Bay Park, Van Cortlandt Park, Woodlawn Cemetery, New York Botanical Garden, and the Bronx Zoo. Clearly, members of the birding community and their families–thanked in the opening Acknowledgments section–played a strong role in getting this project done. . It’s a very mixed chapter.

She is an excellent mother, managing not only to feed her four large cubs, but their visiting father One-eyed who comes by every now and then (he has two more families and being the good father he is, visits them all regularly, usually around lunch time). Very dusty Swarovski CLs.

Furthermore we have another very special stork-like bird, the regal Shoebill , previously known as the Whale-headed Stork but now placed in its own family. This colossal bird is now placed in its own family Balaenicipitidae and it forms an ancient link between storks and pelicans.

I was actually kind of worried I wouldn’t find it, as there is quite a lot of beach to hunt through, but the position was unmistakable when I turned a corner and saw loads of parked cars. There were lots of families with kids, and a van from a local old people’s home, a real cross section of society all intrigued by the visitor.
