Birding Sweden on the Fly

Joseph Chiera is a Masters student in Animal Behavior and Conservation at Hunter College in NYC and a “somewhat newbie” to birding. Barnacle Geese and their downy-grey cygnets were everywhere, grazing alongside picnickers and sunbathers. Still, I was glad to be able to snap some shots of these very special (at least to me) geese.

The Kerkini Lake, Greece: Dipped One, Got One

At first, the road is paved, but as soon as the tarmac ends, the tracks become decorated by hunters in orange vests. The soil is disturbed by foraging boars (and there is not a single shot from those hunters). By the cliffs we find several Eurasian Crag-Martins and a consolation species – a family of Golden Eagles in the air!
