The roost used to be in front of the “Stadtwerke” (the high chimney with breeding Peregrine Falcons) along Kurfürstenanlage a few hundred metres to the east, but the birds switched to the train station in January 2011. Each spread presents two birds of a color–Red (Scarlet Tanager and Northern Cardinal), Pink (Greater Flamingo and Roseate Spoonbill), and so one, with the last spread presenting two colors–Black and White (Downy Woodpecker and Black-and-White Warbler). And, for the hornbills above, an old tree hollow: Mama built a sealed nest.

Audubon’s Hog Island Audubon Camp attracts birders of all skills levels every summer and Acadia National Park, Monhegan Island, Machias Seal Island, and Scarborough Marsh are nationally known birding hotspots. Some birds are put next to each other to aid in the identification process, for example, falcons follow hawks.
