Nisqually Delta Wildlife Refuge

The last weekend of January found me in the frosty Pacific Northwest, meeting some long over due work and family obligations. Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. Nearly 800 acres of wetlands and tidal flats provide diverse habitat for the local birds, as well as large numbers of migratory species, including thousands of ducks and geese.

Week four: We wrap up our stay in the US.

This location is great as it is close to Jeanne’s Family, as well as a very short drive to the Billy Frank Jr. This refuge came up as #4 on a recent list of the top 25 National Wildlife Refuges that were featured in a great story here by 10000 Birds own Jason Crotty. Nisqually NWR. I got to see several Brown Creepers in the area.

My Year in Birding 2012

I went to the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival in Titusville, Florida. We had a wonderful family vacation in Germany and the Czech Republic during which I managed to do a bit of birding. I also spent a bunch of time on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and, as usual, managed to see some birds on workdays.
