A True Mouse Anecdote -- does anyone have a similar story?

I have read that they "self domesticate" -- just like feral wolves will occasionally befriend humans, so apparently will mice. I even met a feral racoon at like 3 or 4 am. I went and got it a piece of sandwich (from which it only ate the turkey part) and then it seemed to want to come towards me to perhaps thank me?
