Galápagos: A Natural History, Second Edition by John Kricher and Kevin Loughlin gives the traveling naturalist the tools needed to fully appreciate and experience the Galápagos Islands. Where once there were 13 species of “Darwin’s finches,” there are now 17. I wish I had read this book.

Imagine, for a second, that Chris Coffee owned tortoises instead of snakes. Imagine that the FWC raided his reptile facility and ruthlessly killed 35 of his tortoises. How would people react?

However, this is not the case with the Galapagos Tortoises.

The little – the two species of black Buffalo Weavers obtain their appellation from their dark coloration that resembles their fearsome namesake.
