I found this little grouping of Guillemots, with parents, babies and even an egg. After the owners contacted the Royal Socieity for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), looking for an explanation as to where the heck all these birds came from, it was determined that the farm would be used as a feeding station.

As I watched, it slowly moved into a patch of dried vegetation and I noticed that it was settling over a single egg. Two or three eggs may be laid and either bird may incubate. This happened to me recently on a birding trip, with somewhat egg-on-the-face results. A wide-open field in a wind-protected spot, recently visited by both mechanical and living manure-spreaders. Fish & Wildlife comes in response to a lawsuit brought by the Center for Biological Diversity. This was Snow Bunting heaven.
