Birding Pulau Ubin-Singapore

We encountered a Grey-headed Fish Eagle flying through the area, which kindly landed in a tree and allowed for photography! Grey-headed Fish Eagle. Although the tide was in we were still able to observe several species of shorebird on Pulau Sekudu. In fact the island was not busy in any area, especially if you were on foot.

Week 16: South Africa and Kruger National Park

So far we have seen Impala, Duiker, Greater Kudu, Mongoose, Zebra and warthogs around the neighborhood, and yard. The African Fish Eagle was a great first day bird. After three months in countries without woodpeckers, it was nice to find these Bennett’s Woodpeckers.

Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park and Lower Peirce Reservoir-Singapore

Asian Glossy Starlings , Javan Mynas , Spotted Doves , Common Flameback , Pacific Swallows , Yellow-vented Bulbuls , Common Kingfisher , White-bellied Sea Eagle and Red Junglefowl were soon on the list. We had not been expecting to see a Banded Woodpecker and there we had one right in front of us. Banded Woodpecker.

Javan Mynas , Olive-backed Sunbirds , Spotted Doves , Rock Doves , Zebra Doves , Common Tailorbirds , Blue-tailed Bee-eaters , Yellow-vented Bulbuls , Pink-necked Green Pigeons , House Sparrows and Black-naped Orioles were in that location. House Swifts , Pacific Swallows , a Brahminy Kite and a White-bellied Sea Eagle soared through the sky.

Zebra Doves , Tree Sparrows , Pacific Swallows , Pink-necked Pigeons , Yellow-vented Bulbuls , Asian Koel , Spotted Dove , Rock Dove , Red Junglefowl , Oriental White Eyes and Black-naped Orioles were soon on our list. There are White-bellied Sea Eagles in the area and it is likely their nest. Monk Parakeet.
