Week 16: South Africa and Kruger National Park

The house is a four bedroom, four bath two story, with a deck running around three sides of the upper story, great for wildlife viewing. So far we have seen Impala, Duiker, Greater Kudu, Mongoose, Zebra and warthogs around the neighborhood, and yard. The African Fish Eagle was a great first day bird.

Lake Miranda

A Parks and Wildlife officer in Kalgoorlie told us that he called them the “dreadlock plant”, because that is just what they looked like! Among these bizarre plants we observed Orange Chats , Crimson Chats , Zebra Finch and Crested Pigeons. They are obviously a salt bush that loves the area. “Dreadlock plant”!

Week 17: Kruger NP, Crocodile Bridge to Lower Sabie

By the time you see this in the United States, I will have had a full week to explore this amazing area, and the wildlife that calls this home. We are on the go until usually around 1:30 give or take a herd of zebras blocking the road. I have managed to find two owls, the first was this pair of Verreaux’s Eagle-owls.
