Although I love dogs they're too dependent on humans, it's true that stray/feral dogs can form packs and survive in the wild a regular dog like a golden retriever would get eaten by a lion instantly. They are much more independent and still behave similarly to wild cats they are still pets and rely on humans to survive.

We have had a pair move due to human traffic increasing through the dune system and others have had to adapt to the changing landscape. Feral cats are a huge problem in Australia and they do take a lot of the eggs. These are not pet cats, but cats that have only ever lived in the wild and can survive in extreme conditions.

I also often observe a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles towards the hills on my left as I follow this section of trail. There is a family of feral foxes that I often encounter near Bennison Creek.
