So, the basic idea is to show 15 species of Australian birds in each post and give you the usual trivia about them. This species has also eliminated the need for childcare – the chicks emerge from this pile on their own and never even get to see their parents. Similarly, the Grey Shrikethrush is neither a shrike nor a thrush.

Fish Creek to Buffalo

There have been good numbers of Australian Wood Ducks near the dam recently. Australian Wood Ducks and Black-shouldered Lapwings. Another small body of water well below the trail adds Pacific Black Duck , Grey Teal and Chestnut Teal to the list and then a lone Australasian Grebe. There was a Koala doing…nothing!

Foster to Fish Creek

Some species I know I will see and other species I don’t observe on every walk. There are a few species that I hear a lot more often than I see and one bird in particular is the Eastern Whipbird. Silvereyes are another bird species that I encounter on a regular basis as they flit through the trees calling as they move.
