The National Wildlife Refuge system is one of America’s greatest treasures. It preserves habitat, protects wildlife. Fishing accounted for 21 percent and hunting 7 percent. Due to some erroneous numbers thrown about by Duck Stamp advocates, I feel that some explanations are in order. In Fiscal Year 2011: 46.5

The number of people who hunt waterfowl in the US has declined since the mid 1990s. This has resulted in a reduction of the number of duck stamps sold. Sales of duck stamps have funded the preservation of wetlands and other wildlife habitat, which in turn has supported an increase in waterfowl populations.

As a birder, this 72 minute documentary film about the Duck Stamp Contest didn’t accomplish what I was hoping it might – get people excited about the Duck Stamp, or at least wildlife conservation. The film follows several contestants on their journey to win what is described as the “Olympics of Wildlife Art.”

If you cannot find the nest or it’s too destroyed, do not try and raise a chick this young. What human can point out a fox hidden nearby and how to avoid it?
