Here are some tidbits: Keith believes humans need to embrace the consumption of animal products, including beef, or else face severe and chronic health problems. Bea sent me a link to an article in Gourmet called " Humane Slaughterhouses ," by Rebecca Marx, that is absurd. They believe you can take a life that doesn't want to be taken in a humane way, and I don't agree. It’s how we treat humans, too. The chef's perspective is represented by Dan Barber, who serves Eggleston's meat.

I tried soaking it (I soak the dogs' kibble) but she wouldn't eat it. I bought a new laser light and my husband and I have committed to using it every day and getting her to sprint around the house (away from the dogs-don't worry) for at least 15 minutes/day. Try not to think about the "meat" being "raised" and the "it."

For example, Carl Cohen, who has argued at length that animals don’t have rights, admits: If animals feel pain (and certainly mammals do,), we humans surely ought cause no pain to them that cannot be justified.

They don't satisfy all of the requirements of Francione, but their goal is the abolition of the use of sentient nonhumans by humans. Fighting to maintain the integrity of the words humane, love, euthanasia or compassion, is also fighting for animals. They are abolitionists, just not Francione-style abolitionists.

Who Should Not Eat Meat, or What Does a Vegetarian Feed His Dog? Presumably it would include all human beings, whether they are in the habit of eating animals or not. Since animals cannot be judged morally praiseworthy or blameworthy, the question of whether it is morally wrong for them to eat meat cannot be raised.

Thus, the cattle we raise for meat and dairy are sometimes called Bos taurus while the extinct wild form is always called Bos primigenius. The domestic dog was once and still often is Canis familiaris as opposed to the wolf, Canis lupus , but the former which is really a subspecies of the latter is now Canis lupus familiaris.
