I came across this strange article about German research on which slaughter method creates more pain for the animal: the Western method of stunning or the Islamic method of a cut to the neck. I can’t even imagine being in a position where my government was telling me to kill my dog, or have it beaten to death. Dog owners in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, are even being told to kill their own dogs, or else their dogs will be beaten to death by the police and the owners will be charged a fine. Thank you, Fred.

People in South Florida are still in an uproar over the mutilation and slaughter of 19 house cats (allegedly) by 18-year old Tyler Weinman, who was declared mentally competent and not a danger to himself or others (!). The four counts of burglary he is being charged with carry a heftier sentence than the animal killing.

There will be no pies or cakes that were made with milk that was meant for calves, or eggs that represent dead male chicks , forced molting, debeaking and other mutilations and cruelties. When in the position of having the choice, which so far is always, I'd rather choose not to have someone killed for me. All it takes is a decision.
