Why Top Chef Makes Me So Mad

Critter News

Throughout the entire show, the judges and contestants always refer to their meats as the "protein." Vegetarians and vegans know that you get protein from vegetables. Protein is not dependent on meat at all. I've seen two chefs wear stupid meat-inspired shirts. I have yet to see an episode featuring vegetarian cooking.

Philip E. Devine on Vegetarianism

Animal Ethics

There are two approaches a vegetarian might take in arguing that rearing and killing animals for food is morally offensive. Animal Person

Interviewer: "Are you a vegetarian?". Contestant (mortified, laughing, with hand over her mouth): "Cows.". Interviewer: "Cows, okay, there's another one you kill. I respect the lives of lions, no matter where they live, and I don't believe that they should be used for food any more than cows should. Contestant: "Nope.
