I have fed Charles Hobson Booger, III and Violet Rays every type of diet from raw (as in, turkey necks and chicken backs) to pre-made raw (comes in patties with greens and bones and supplements in it), to homemade vegan to Evolution to pre-made vegan ingredients to a combo. Despite Violet's diabetes, she was never the problem.

One of those is vet bills, which of course aren't deductible, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't know the total. I'm doing my best in an imperfect world to respect the rights of other sentients, and I have heard vegans say that sanctuaries--and not pet ownership--will be the only way out of subjugation for cats and dogs.

I could be reading into this, but it does appear that there's some discomfort on the part of non-vegans when they look through the calendar and I tell them the story. And when you're checking out at the health food store with your cans and bag of vegan dog food, how could that not be a seedy opportunity? Segue into horse racing.

There will be no greyhound corpse on our table, no turkey corpse and no pig corpse. The two objections to a vegan Thanksgiving that I hear most often are: It's our tradition and Because it tastes good. Of course, the world outside of our home tells a different story. They would say they love animals. It's our tradition.

The life expectancy of greyhounds is 12-15 years. Of course, that also rendered her defective and she was therefore immediately "discarded." Unfortunately, Violet doesn't like her vegan food or most other food, but will eat food that smells terrible for some reason. But now, of course, I want more. There she is.

I began my journey by discovering something you all probably know, which is that you can substitute cooked black-eyed peas or adzuki beans for flour, like in the recipe for the above vegan flourless chocolate cake. And of course, Emily is just as opinionated and irritable as ever, and still shows no sign of dying from her FIP.
