The bird on the photo is one of the estimated 3500-15,000 individuals still alive according to the HBW – a frightening thought given the (too) large number of humans, of which there are about 1 million times more (and of course, each of which weighs 5000 times more than the flycatcher). It is probably all downhill from here.

Mosquitoes bite humans and animals with no regard to species, and they bring along a number of illnesses. For humans, mosquitoes can lead to such diseases as Yellow Fever and West Nile Virus among others. Heartworms are easily controlled by any one of a number of medications designed to kill the worms or repel mosquitoes.

The University of Puerto Rico, an "1862" LGU founded in 1900, operates a slaughter facility killing small ruminants -- typically goats and sheep, cattle being large ruminants. Ruminants are four-footed, hoofed, even-toed, cud-chewing mammals with four stomachs. Let me know if you hear the show! Have a great day and evening!

That bald head, so odd and homely, is actually an adaptation for sticking one’s head deep inside the gut of a deceased mammal. Animal rights is concerned with preventing the suffering or even use of animals by humans. New Zealand has been the recipient of a higher than average number of introduced species, in particular a range of mammals from elk to mice. This is quite a big deal for an island group that had no mammals save bats for millions of years.

Yet, in 1990s India has killed more than 99% of its Gyps vultures (e.g. Of the estimated 500 million cattle in India, only 4% were destined for consumption by humans as meat. Now, asking for vultures in India is a bit like asking your safari guide to show you a leopard. Not for the same reason, although.
