After watching Tiger King and having my eyes opened to the world of shady exotic animal "rescue" zoos/sanctuaries (i.e. Somebody told me about Barn Hill Preserve of Delaware where you can pay to "swim with otters" and pet a kangaroo.

A private zoo operator in Taiwan cross-bred lions and tigers, resulting in three "liger" cubs. Both species are endangered and it is illegal to cross breed them. Cross-breeding two protected species is completely against nature. Tags: zoos taiwan tigers lion endangered species. From Focus Taiwan.

The only way most of us will ever see an elephant (or a tiger or a hippo) is on the National Geographic Channel, at a circus or in a zoo. But most zoos and circuses today, including ours, are delicately sensitive to animal well-being. The elitist “animal-rights” zealots hate to admit this.

Dunayer devotes a chapter each to the language used in hunting, zoos, "marine parks," vivisection and "animal agriculture." Two tigers confined to a cage gave 'freedom' from enemies. However young and healthy, captives judged inappropriate for exhibition or breeding are considered 'excess' and usually are 'unloaded' or killed.
