Other than being a vegan, the most important actions you can take to help animals who are used for food are: Give generously to organizations that help those sentient nonhumans directly, such as Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary , Maple Farm Sanctuary , Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary and Eastern Shore Sanctuary. We are not people who are interested in discussing animal rights, as in, the right of sentient nonhumans to not be used by humans for potential profit, for sport or for lunch. Maybe "humane" is already on its way out for the folks trying to convince themselves and others that humane killing isn't an oxymoron. That's respect.

Now, any medication we take and surgical procedures we undergo also have a long line of breeding, enslavement, torture and killing of sentient nonhumans leading up to them, so objecting to "knockout animals" on those grounds is to stand on somewhat thin ice. That action is to opt out and go vegan. What about being raped?

Lesson #20 We still don't know what will make a critical mass of people go vegan. But other than multi-pronged, multi-media, persistence, I have no idea what will be necessary to make most people go vegan. Yes, I see on Twitter that someone read Eating Animals and went vegan that day. Obviously (I think), education is the key.

Would the blood drinker be sinning against the principles of lactovo moral vegetarianism or just the principles of vegan moral vegetarianism? Suppose there was a breed of sheep that became very ill when the sheep’s fleece was removed; they did not function normally. Would the blood be analogous to milk or eggs?

There are conservation efforts to save these species by individual aquarists, who are keeping and breeding them in hopes that they can someday be reintroduced into the lake. would you see keeping these fish confined in an aquarium as a rescue effort or as a selfish act by humans that interferes with Nature?
