Some of the birds who depend on the lake itself, such as ducks and shorebirds, have scattered to every remaining reservoir, pond, or puddle in the area. After investigating the area between the towns of Araró and AndocutÃn, I soldiered on to the equally-small town of Iramuco. A Marsh Wren was the first to greet me.

This is similar to the fact that all birds, even first time breeders within a species build identical nests. In another experiment, other species of Darwin Finches were kept next to Woodpecker Finches that used tools. In general, fish will swim to investigate anything that falls on the water hoping the object might be prey.

This thrush is extremely common in urban and suburban Germany and one of the most conspicuous bird species here, comparable to the American Robin in North America. A few dead birds were collected by authorities and sent to a laboratory for investigation. and species breeding in cavities are less affected.

The simple answer is monetary gain, there is a global black market for these items, regardless of the species’ vulnerability for extinction. The eggs are Peregrine Falcon eggs, stolen from aeries in Wales, though Lendrum keeps insisting they’re duck eggs. Back to Lendrum–McWilliam interviews him.

While the species favors forested hills at moderate elevations ( source ), there are no hills at all here at Nanhui, so maybe these individuals are outcasts or just eccentrics.
