Even a game of football between you and a few bros is a great excuse for your dog to run around with you. Steaks, burgers, hot-dogs, chicken, ribs,sausages, peppers, onions, a grill, and loads of sauce during a football game; who better to share this slice of guy heaven with, than man’s best friend? But why stop there?

Possible segue into the tie to gaming that's artificial, but legislated, and needs to change. Parlay greyhounds aren't for entertainment to they're not for eating to chickens aren't for eating either (this one takes a couple of minutes + a willing receiver). Segue into horse racing. There are plenty of places to play poker here.

In a stroke of the surreal, my heart beat frantically as my eye was yanked from the cheery, colorful bears on the sticker, to a mammoth black bear, tethered to the back of a white pickup truck, and held down with chicken wire. Or as if the other team is even aware the game is being played and has agreed to participate.

Further investigation revealed that 30 years ago, the Pennsylvania Game Commission had brought breeding eagles down from Canada to start a Bald Eagle re-introduction program, hoping to bolster the population ravaged by DDT.

All New World Quail are highly gregarious, typically found in coveys or flocks except during breeding season. At this age, they are also able to make short flights, a highly desirable trait for game birds. I used to play Subbuteo as a kid … a kind of tip-kick football game that was named after this species (apparently, the inventors first wanted to name the game “Hobby” but that was rejected as too generic, or so the story goes). The Eurasian Hobby was another notable raptor of the month.

When I upped my goal to some insane stratospheric level in June, going back to find things like Lesser Prairie-Chicken (which I missed) became more problematic. Bicknell’s Thrush is a bird that is important to me because I grew up in New York’s Catskill Mountains, one of the places that it breeds. And stay healthy.
