Part of the world they wanted to transport was natural. The Eurasian Blackbird was not found in new Zealand before man, but it is now. One such individual was Sir George Grey, who liberated many animals on his estate (mercifully on an island), including wildebeest, monkeys, zebras, wallabies, deer, cassowaries, emu and kookaburras.

A boat ride into this swamp turns up usual suspects like Pied Water Tyrant and Yellow-hooded Blackbird , but also (and most excitingly) three species of kingfisher: Green, American Pygmy and Ringed Kingfisher. We managed to see both species of monkey, though – so we were ultimately well satiated.

And even though transportation is so easy and inexpensive, prepare to walk a lot. 118 Eurasian (Chinese) Blackbird. OK, this isn’t much of a list, but all wild monkey sightings deserve recognition! ). Monkey at a monastery. Plus, taxis are cheaper than you’d expect. So don’t be afraid! Do your research.
