Heading out of Ecclesdown Road on the second day of my trip, I had nailed all of my targets save four species ( Caribbean Dove , Yellow-billed Parrot , Jamaican Owl , and Stolid Flycatcher ). Streamertail is a spectacular and abundant endemic species of Jamaica, locally known as the Doctorbird. .

Some species I know I will see and other species I don’t observe on every walk. Masked Lapwings are often seen close to Foster and also Common Blackbirds , Common Mynas , Common Starlings , Red Wattlebirds , Straw-necked Ibis , Spotted Doves , Galahs and Little Corellas. We wanted to try and observe some of the bush species that we have encountered in the tall trees of New South Wales on previous holidays. We also had to remind ourselves of familiar sounds that we had heard before, but could not instantly remember the species. Although the tall trees can be challenging they can also be very rewarding.
