They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ). The Bat Hawk mainly eats bats, as the name suggests – in a curiously precise statement, Wikipedia claims that 49.3% At between 4 pm and 6 pm, to be exact.

I was a bit sad, too, that we had annoyed the owl enough that it felt it had to strafe us … my normal MO is to avoid stressing out wildlife. Once endangered, they lead happy, protected lives, oblivious to the tourists who love them. the scene where Jochen’s saw his BBOTY – a Bat Hawk. Greg doesn’t bird.
