Birds, mammals and other wildlife, humans and landscapes are all rendered magnificently. Davis points out in his book published earlier this year, The Bald Eagle: The Improbable Journey of America’s Bird. On the other hand, Davis is, of course, a big fan of the Bald Eagle, as Audubon was not.

As the name suggests, the National Bison Range is mostly known for its large mammals. And although the single Bald Eagle we spotted just outside the park was probably more interested in fish, they are known to enjoy fawn as well, when they can carry it.

Perched high above the river were a number of birds of prey, including the one with the most evocative call of the African bush, the African Fish-eagle. Red Lechwe. In particular, there are lots of waterbirds.

Fish and Wildlife Service. Alaska’s long-lining fleet now must have bird-deterrent measures in place, which means a lot more Laysan, Black-footed and Short-tailed Albatross are not being injured or drowned in fishing gear. However, they were refound on Buldir Island, a remote island that never had any introduced mammals.
