Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the “Rufa” population of Red Knot ( Calidris canutus rufa ) as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). These will eventually eliminate beach habitat and interfere with the creation of new beach habitat.

On the other hand, Friends of Woodland Park Zoo Elephants says they are not well-treated and should be in a sanctuary. Elephants need to roam and I don't particularly like having any animal gawked at in a zoo.but I don't really know if Woodland Park is worse than any other zoo. I'm definitely open to feedback.

They are being moved to a wildlife sanctuary. Tags: malawi africa animal rescue elephants endangered species. There has been a lot of violence between the elephants and subsistence farmers (unfortunately, I think the violence is pretty one-sided.) From Wildlife Extra News.

The Sacramento River NWR was established 1989 by the authority provided under the Endangered Species Act, Emergency Wetlands Resources Act, and the Fish and Wildlife Act. It provides shelter for many songbirds and water-associated animals, including the river otter, turtles, beaver, American pelicans, ospreys, and migratory songbirds.

You know, because these birds are astonishingly rare and the general public are, while often well meaning, generally rather hopeless and prone to bringing all kinds of problems with them, such as accidentally introducing exotic species or standing there and prodding a wild animal in the belief this is an acceptable thing to do.
