The kitten Venus is an F4 Bengal meaning she’s four generations (F4) removed from the Asian Leopard Cat which is a small wild cat from Asia.

Are there good breeders out there that care for their animals and run their business out of pure love of their work and the animals? My division director loves Norwegian Forest Cats. Friday she showed me the new kitten she will be purchasing. It's a two-week old kitten from Kansas.

Half a decade ago, in a little mountain town about 60 miles northeast of San Diego, a feral kitten dragged his front left leg uselessly. The dog-loving owners of the property in Julian where he sought refuge rushed him to the local veterinarian, who informed them that if his leg was amputated, he could live as an indoor cat.

The vet did give me a hard time about the dogs' animal-free diets (my traditional vets don't, ironically), and my response was that unless she could show me some research that his particular type of injury needs animal protein to heal, I wasn't going to change anything. My poor boy. Wish him luck!

Enjoy the guest post (thanks Susan): As I write this, my black cat, Sasha, is going through her pantomime, telling me that she either wants to go out, or she wants to eat. My youngest daughter spotted the exceedingly shy black cat and wanted her. Because she had never been socialized, this cat did not even know how to purr.
