We don’t have monkeys, or wildebeest, or salmon here. To Victorian eyes the fauna and flora of New Zealand was strange, both in appearance and in its apparent paucity.

Any dedicated birder visiting Panama City should first consider the Canopy Tower , one of the most important and beloved birding lodges in the Americas. In fact, we saw two species of monkey, our only sloths, lots of coatis, and my rarest ever mammal sighting—a Jaguarundi —right on site. TRANSPORTATION. Howler Monkey.

I was fascinated to learn that Black Kites serve the same ecological niche in their range that Turkey and Black Vultures do in North America.
