The deer walked down the road, seemingly unconcerned with being so close to an open car window that revealed an excitedly babbling family and a clicking camera. Not that the species status of the Black-tailed Deer we saw really mattered because it was a really cool animal. We saw Black-tailed Deer walking through parking lots.

I also enjoyed reading the company histories of familiar brands like Duncraft, Kaytee, Droll Yankee, and Wagner all of which started as family companies, some as offshoots of other businesses, some as the result of clever inventions. The story of Duncraft is a good example. Margaret A. The writers have created a good book.

The species are taxonomically divided into two families: Tytonidae, Barn-Owls, and Strigidae, Owls, encompassed in one order, Strigiformes. Holt also travels up to Utqiavik, Alaska every June, and has been for over 30 years, to study Snowy Owls and Brown Lemmings. They roost and hunt, at night (mostly) when we can’t see them.
