Well, I made a list: Timber Point Country Club is in Suffolk County, New York, about forty-five minutes from my house in Queens provided traffic isn’t too bad. I had never seen a Common Greenshank in New York. With nothing particular on the agenda I could go see the bird! Why was I amazed?

Birding Rockefeller State Park Preserve

This past Sunday was a hot sunny day in New York and the family and I took full advantage of it, exploring Rockefeller State Park Preserve, a pretty park in Westchester County, not too far north of the Bronx. No, I have no such diabolical agendas! Pure coincidence! We enjoyed butterflies, dragonflies, and sticks.

The birds weren’t high on the agenda while we were in Wyoming but I still managed to see some. I didn’t have much light to work with but a male Western Tanager can’t be ignored.
