We were laughing out loud when we watched this interview of Rory the guinea pig! When I agreed to read and review Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson's THE DOG WHO COULDN'T STOP LOVING (Harper 2010), the regal Charles Hobson Booger, III was still with us. He was adopted by the Masson family and was apparently the most loving dog all who met him had ever had the pleasure of being licked by. But let's back up a bit.

All companion animals including dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, and lizards would be considered as pets. If it passes, San Francisco residents would have to go to a shelter or rescue group to adopt an animal. Pet sales would be banned altogether, except for the sale of pet fish.

The purpose is therefore to provide a Forever Home for those companion and farm animals that have virtually no chance of being adopted due to their age or condition. “We do not adopt out for the mere fact that the ones we have nobody wanted, and that is fine with us. Believe it or not, the 22 dogs all live inside the house!

but did experiment on mice and guinea pigs. Interesting that many of the grants this place gets specifically say they can't experiment on any domesticated animals (cats and dogs I guess.). There was a poster in the lunch room with four cute animals (a dog, cat, rabbit and something else.) But I did get to walk around the floor.

I got my first pets, mice and guinea pigs, when I was 8. I didn’t get my first dog until I was 20, but since then I have been making up for lost time. Today I own 40 outdoor dogs and two more who live indoors! Start with easier pets – Many people don’t want to start with the responsibility of a dog or cat.

And Adoption Awareness Month. I am a vegan who has adopted a diabetic greyhound who eats vegan food ( Natural Balance ), and who is adopting a boy from Russia. Not everyone is able to adopt for financial reasons (or have a child for biological reasons), and I don't think it's unethical to desire and create a biological child.
