For the Birds: Midway Atoll Mouse Eradication and NEPA

Many of these islands are part of the Hawaiian Islands National Wildlife Refuge and one of the most important areas is Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) wants to eradicate all of the mice on Midway. The public had until April 20, 2018 to comment. They are also disease vectors.

Saving the Drowning Cormorant, or the Kerkini Lake, Greece

They were still listed as Endangered, but wildlife management measures taken in this park were clearly working. Below legal size for humans is still legal for pelicans. Hence, the experiment was created: a plot was fenced off to keep the animals away and now willow saplings did survive being submerged for half a year.
