In June of 2013 he embarked on a whirlwind tour of Europe, spotting birds in Iceland , Russia , Finland , and, as you’re about to find out, Sweden: We took a quick flight from Helsinki and arrived in Stockholm, Sweden, arriving at our fourth country on this trip. I also spotted a Grey Heron as we walked back to our hotel.

My Year in Birding 2012

I wonder how many I’ll be able to add in 2013. A text message that let me know about a mega-rarity in New York ! New York State’s first Grace’s Warbler. There is no way 2013 will be as good as year for me birding-wise as 2012 was. But how did I see so many species this year?

I feel certain that, given Tennessee’s 18-year track record of celebrating cranes in a tremendously successful festival, the opposition will only be stronger in 2013. Canada Geese and Crows can figure it out, so can Cranes. Cats Are Still Public Enemy Number One, For Birds The New York Times and Tweety have it absolutely correct.
