So what do these facts mean for our wildlife? Some animals are injured and killed by wildfires. Fire can also cause wildlife to be burned, dehydrated and malnourished. In the months after a fire, wildlife populations can suffer substantial losses due to habitat alteration and destruction.

Oil begins to wash up on the beaches throughout May and June of 2010 May 6, 2010 Oil washes ashore on the Chandeleur Islands off the Louisiana coast, an important nesting and breeding area for many bird species. June 2, 2010 BP apparently bans workers from showing dead or dying wildlife and from talking to the press.

Several artificial waterholes that have been placed along these riverbeds are a magnet for wildlife and Leeudril is one such location. At 8am on Tuesday 30th August 2012, we arrived at Leeudril after leaving nearby Tweerivieren camp and were thrilled to spot a young female Leopard next to the water tank.

There is another area of the Queens County CBC where a team will also likely see Monk Parakeets , Myipsitta monachus , but I am seriously determined to count that bird for my area, Coastal Flushing, a section of northeast Queens, New York, that includes Whitestone, home of one of the loudest invasive bird species in the U.S. And cell towers.

It’s the warbler that is often the last unchecked species on birders’ life lists and, whether you list or not, for most of us observing it is a once in a lifetime experience. Fish and Wildlife Service endangered species list. Jackson, 2012. The warbler is on the road to being delisted from the Endangered Species List.
