The refuge has an impressive visitor center that opened in 2008, so it is ADA compliant. My impression is that it is a fairly safe area and families are a common sight on weekends, as are school groups. Thus, there is a good amount of online information for planning purposes. (I

A little further, there’s a family group of Savannah Elephants with two two-year olds. Those that crossed the road first are waiting for the rest of the group at the other side. They raise their trunks, sniffing the air. The dirt road winds in between rocky outcrops – kopjes, by Burchell’s Zebras and Greater Kudus.

I was in contact with a group of birders for whom I arranged and guided an annual tour to Africa. These strange birds are two species in their own family; White-necked or Yellow-headed, endemic to the Upper Guinea forests and Grey-necked or Red-headed, restricted to Lower Guinea forests. million hectares in 2007.
