In February 2004, a young frigatebird blown into the Northern Pacific by a storm landed on a vessel bound for Vancouver, British Columbia. The frigatebird we had in care in 2004 never ate the fish that we offered on her own. It had taken the company this long to get a team out to rescue any impacted wild animals.

Happy 12th Birthday Violet Rays!

Diabetes shortens the life expectancy of human and nonhuman animals, by years. We spent the end of 2004 and beginning of 2005 getting fired by vet after vet. He told me to stop going to the vet because that's what was killing Violet Rays. Violet was just under four-years old. She's our 62-pound miracle. Her eyes were vacant.
