Since 2006 a pair of Bald Eagles ( Haliaeetus leucocephalus ) nesting at Turtle Bay in Redding California have successfully raised a dozen eaglets! This year when the pair returned to Turtle Bay, they decided to build a new nest in an adjacent tree.

On the first trip in 2012 we used public transport to get there and the train conveniently gets you to Macarthur Square shopping centre and you can then get a bus that drops you right at the entrance to the park. It is important to drive slowly due to the crossing of the road of Eastern Long-necked Turtles ! Eastern Long-necked Turtle.

Yet another abundant species in his days was the European Turtle Dove , of which we lost about a quarter of population to hunting in this century alone – nowadays officially a threatened species in the IUCN Red List. I will stop with his observations and descriptions here – I am environmentally depressed enough already, even without them.
