We soon positioned ourselves in the shelter to watch the birdlife and there was no denying it was a hot and dry day and the shade was appreciated.

Wolfe Creek Crater birding

We were surprised to observe Zebra Finch , because there did not appear to be any water, but they could have been accessing water on the station and coming to the crater for food. Wallabies were still digging in the salty ground and there was shade and shelter for them inside the crater. Heading around the rim.
