I had never heard of the use of ferrets in medical research though. A national physicians group has filed a federal complaint against the University of Washington, saying its use of ferrets to train medical residents in emergency procedures on babies and children violates a federal animal-welfare law. News to me.

I live in Seattle and, while I don't always agree with PETA, I hate the UW's animal research practices. I don't believe these animals get the quality of care they deserve for the suffering they undergo. If you "humanize" the animal and grow attached, how can you conduct experiments on it? You have to objectify them and they suffer for it.

The Humane Society of the United States released the video scenes Wednesday, saying that’s only part of the documentation of what it claimed were 338 violations of federal law and policy at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s New Iberia Research Laboratory. It is the nation’s largest primate research lab that studies chimpanzees.

There are researchers out there who say that they do. Researchers tickled babies and six different kinds of apes, quantified their giggles, and found that the patterns fit a classic evolutionary tree. Tags: animal behavior primates. She supports medical research on animals. One scene has the author entering the part of the hospital where the research animals are. This woman, who I now mentally call "THE VIVISECTOR," defended medical research. The descriptions of the research subjects are very roundabout, but still horrific to me.
