Whenever I get my hands on a trade publication for any industry, my favorite thing to do is see what is being advertised in the magazine. Wow, when I think of all the years I spent working in a wild birds store that was meant to help people attract birds, I was in the wrong industry. So, not the beach, but still colorful views.

Compassion in World Farming led an undercover investigation that showed illegal tail docking and poor attempts at pig enrichment on factory farms, in violation of EU law. Now the pig industry is mad and claiming bias ( scroll down in article.) If you complied with the law, you wouldn't look like such jerks!

This is all about making the stupid state friendly to the biotech industry. Tags: animal research biotech arizona. Supposedly people either 1) believe the State has no place overseeing labs (USDA does that) and 2) bioscience is already very well-regulated. They get a huge tax break?

Brown, a case in which the meat industry is attempting to invalidate a California law designed to reduce animal suffering and protect public safety. The industry sued California, arguing that Section 599f is preempted by the Federal Meat Inspection Act. Did anyone know this was going on?

They should fear oil spills because, I'm sorry, Canada is not the best in terms of environmental safeguards, laws or requirements. The industry is not as developed, but it's heading in that direction. Tags: canada oil spill oil drilling pollution. It would therefore benefit the Canadians to prepare.

Last week there was a slew of articles about the agreement in Ohio between the farm industry and animal welfare activists to expand cage sizes for calves (veal), hens and pigs.
