On March 11th, RPA sent the governors of all 50 states a letter and two factsheets urging them to help get their land-grant universities (LGUs) out of the meat industry. Whenever the media report that someone has killed "an endangered animal" or "an endangered species," they too confuse an individual with a species. Hunters kill members of endangered species. Old-speciesists have a rights view of at least some humans but a utilitarian view of nonhumans (18).

I haven't examined each institutionalized use of animals the way that Dunayer has, with the possible exception of vivisection, and I learned a lot about the details of the language of each industry. Often it permanently disables or kills. By pairing humane with slaughter , legislators have sanctioned horrific cruelty and mass murder.
