In order to ensure that owner’s of new puppies are prepared to feed their new pet, the following guidelines have been designed to explain the basics of new puppy feeding. While every new puppy should be fed from their mother for at least the first four to six weeks, by eight weeks they should be ready to eat on their own.

The feeding guidelines printed on the puppy food label are well researched and should be followed unless a veterinarian says otherwise. Just like humans, puppies like a little variety, but owners need to be aware of any dietary differences that will come into play with the different varieties.

I’d been volunteering at rescues through my young adulthood, and I was training as a cat socializer, teaching terrified felines — the unlucky victims of cruel people — to trust humans again. All of these afflictions are human-caused and largely preventable. One typical, blue-sky, L.A. I was mortified. And, I would have understood.

There is an estimated 3-4million pets euthanized each year in US animal shelters. There is a strong lack of homes willing to open their doors to fostering a shelter pet.
