A Pearson International Airport employee tipped off the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection that a shipment of monkeys destined for Montreal was being held at the Toronto airport after arriving from China on Saturday. Air Canada is one of a small number of airlines that continues to transport these primates, Kite said.

In subsequent weeks and days, this local mega was seen by many a local birder, many of whom hired local boats to take them out to the tip of the dock and nearby buoys frequented by the Heerman’s (once more, birding gives a boost to the local economy). It’s a bird species I have expected for some time, an overdue bird if you will.

Before we get to the birds, allow me to share some tips: Don’t be afraid of Hong Kong. An early group of about 15 from the hide at Mai Po. Do your research.

Crisscrossed by 24″ pipelines transporting oil from numerous offshore platforms, oil companies exercised the strongest presence here. Makes sense in retrospect, as I have also seen this species on the rocky northeastern tip of the island within the littoral forest there. Red-legged Honeycreeper , I promise!

TRANSPORTATION. Spotted some massive migratory groups at Radisson Summit Hotel and Golf Panama. White-tipped Dove. Seen in groups of 1-4 at Radisson Summit, Pipeline Road, and Summit Ponds. A group in the trees at Summit Ponds. One group of four on Old Gamboa Road. A group chattering at Old Gamboa Road.
