The week before I had tried to walk this trail with my parents and son in the baby jogger, but the constant need to veer off the pathway to avoid those less observant of CDC guidance made the experience more stressful than enjoyable. Overhead soared Purple Martin s, Turkey Vultures, and Anhingas.

I’ve been working on it so long that holding it in my hands was a completely surreal experience. But the kinds of experiences I describe are anything but common, because in many cases I’ve been their mama, or fixed them when they were sick or broken. This experience cemented my conviction. Baby hummers, not so much.

One of the neognath branches is called Galloanserae and consists today of the the Galliformes or landfowl (megapodes, guans, guineafowl, patridges, pheasants, grouse, turkeys, quail, and relatives) and the specialized aquatic Anseriformes or waterfowl (ducks, geese, swans, and related waterfowl, along with the weird South American screamers).

The food was better than decent, which exceeds our experience of Panamanian cuisine at most other locations. Seriously, Panama raises the art of under-communication to new, deplorable heights. Radisson Summit Hotel and Golf Panama really serves a superior birding experience, just by nature of the amazing forest surrounding it.
