They can be challenging to identify, especially if you haven’t seen one before, though with experience they are not really so difficult. If you see a flock of kestrels in southern Europe, then the chances are that they will be Lessers, for the Common Kestrel never flocks, though occasionally in summer you will see a family hunting together.

day, I had come home to a scraggy, skittish stray of my own. The process of taking in a stray isn’t usually instantaneous and straightforward. There’s an imperative to get this message across to cat people who, like me, can be educated to value wild lives as much as we value the lives of our four-legged family members.

Imagine the heart exploding with happiness that the beautiful pet you have supported and loved, has found forever love with a great family. Fostering is a wonderful experience. A pet needs time to decompress, to learn trust, to “get over” the shelter experience. The former could not be further from the truth. Look at tail wag.
